In the 1950s, when divorce laws were strict, there was a popular scam where adultery -- valid grounds for divorce -- was faked with the aid of a private detective...for a price. Liam Neeson, once a cop but demoted to PI following a sordid affair that resulted in the death of a fellow policeman, provides this kind of service for his clients. All goes wrong, however, when a faked adultery turns out to be a very real murder.
Neeson turns in a customarily good performance, and co-star Kenneth Cranham is fantastic as Neeson's only friend. Good performances from these two, tense desperation, and a twist ending make this worth watching.
