Traveller is an interesting character drama about a clan of modern day gypsies, specifically one whose viewed as an "outsider" because he had an outsider mother, and one that may soon be an outsider because he has an outsider love interest.
The story follows the two characters as they tour the country, playing con games to make money. Inevitably, the stakes are raised, and they end up conning the wrong people.
While I liked the movie and the development of the characters, ultimately I didn't think the characters were fleshed out enough, and the themes of the movie don't run deeply enough. And a needlessly dark, brutal conclusion sours the otherwise solidly constructed plot. But the dialogue is strong, and the film seems fresh and new where a lesser film would have been subverted by the formula this movie parallels but does not dogmatically follow.
