Thursday's Game (1974)

Reviews and Comments

The inspired pairing of Gene Wilder and Bob Newhart has more potential than Thursday's Game, which saddles the stars with typical uninteresting television production values and a pace that feels stretched to fit its time slot. Nonetheless, there is a cutting wit to James L. Brooks' script, and the stars -- also including Cloris Leachman, Ellen Burstyn, and still more television icons of the era -- shine with its delivery. Overlong or no, there are more than enough funny moments to make this worth a viewing.
