On the surface, this is a pretty hokey science fiction tale with all the hokey science fiction props one expects from a hokey science fiction movie of the 1950s. It is. And it would be wrong to say that this dated artifice doesn't run much deeper. At the same time, it's not entirely frivolous. There's a small blend of irony and commentary amidst the corny props and silly looking aliens, not that this excuses the package it comes in. There's only so much goofy acting and Mysterious Glowing Things one can take.
