A teenaged Shirley Temple stars in this story about a racehorse, based on a true incident. Horse trainer Barry Fitzgerald is renowned for his ability to pick a winning thoroughbred at age one -- when he's hired by a breeder in Kentucky, he spots a champion in a yearling named Seabiscuit, but no one else shares his faith.
The film holds few surprises and isn't particularly well constructed, but it does have a lot of charm. Fitzgerald's winning performance is sure to warm the coldest of hearts, tipping the film's balance in its favor.
