If there was any doubt that the Mr. Moto character doesn't quite fit in a post-WWII world, The Return of Mr. Moto drives the point home. This swingin' sixties update of the character, feebly cashing in on the spy fad started by James Bond, scarcely bears a surface resemblance to the character brought to life by Peter Lorre in the late thirties. That's not the problem, though: the problem is that it's mind-numbingly boring. The dialogue is terrible, often ridiculously so, but mostly just uninterestingly so. And there's so much of it! The characters talk, talk, talk, and talk, and the film feels twice its scant 70 minute running time. Laughable staging in the climax puts the final nail in the coffin.
