Reviews and Comments

"When love is gone, there's nothing left but admiration and respect."

This fast-paced Preston Sturges farce involves itself with some pretty insightful issues: practicality versus nobility, a husband's blindness to his wife's virtues and a brother's blindness to his sister's, and differing perspectives on the institution of marriage. But like all Sturges' comedies, the social undertones may be freely ignored with not an ounce of the film's entertainment value lost. The Palm Beach Story is a joy to watch and shimmers with quality.
