The Order is yet another brainless action movie with Jean-Claude Van Damme. It doesn't do him any favors. The fights are boring, the plot is a mess, and the best part is when the credits roll, because it means it's over. The story is ever so slightly reminiscent of Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade, in that his archeologist father is kidnapped by badguys, and he's got to go rescue him and some ancient artifact. But to draw this comparison at all is to pay it a compliment it doesn't deserve, because it suggests there is anything good about it. In fact, to be reminded of Indiana Jones is to realize anew just how little anything that happens in The Order matters. I didn't care if any of the characters lived or killed, or if the goodguys prevailed against the badguys or not. Watching this movie elicited all the emotional involvement that a screensaver does, except that screensavers are more interesting.
