The Night of the Iguana is as good as it should be, given its pedigree: a film directed by John Huston, based on a play by Tennessee Williams, and performed by such luminaries as Richard Burton and Deborah Kerr. But it is Ava Gardner, as the irrepressible Maxine, who stands out here. The film, vibrant enough without her, comes all the more alive when she's on the screen.
