Breakthrough early Alfred Hitchcock effort about a vacationing couple who happen upon a conspiracy and assassination plan. Their son is kidnapped to keep them quiet. It was possibly Hitchcock's best work to date (Blackmail is a strong contender), but he'd do better still with The 39 Steps and The Lady Vanishes. Peter Lorre, who spoke very little English at the time and had to learn his part phonetically, creates an unforgettable villain here.
