Director John Sturges' final film is neither the best nor the worst of swan songs. It's about a Nazi plot to kidnap Winston Churchill. Farfetched? Even the Nazi officers in charge think so, but an intriguing twist of politics and timing set it in motion.

A movie like this, though, should build up more momentum than it does. There are some strong moments, but the pacing as a whole gets too bogged down in fringe story elements, and the ending is a contrivance. Fun, but not an enduring classic.
