Two old friends, one a drug dealer (Mel Gibson), the other a cop (Kurt Russell), fall in love with the same woman (Michelle Pfeiffer). Russell doesn't want to arrest Gibson, but feels he must, and there's a question about whether Gibson's really quit the business as he claims. The film meanders and has less merit than its starpower suggests. Some plot developments in the final third are intriguing, but it's too little, too late.
