Spaceballs has some hysterical scenes in it, but has as many jokes that don't work, plus long stretches of seemingly random running around. It's Mel Brooks' spoof of Star Wars and other space films, and even manages to poke fun at Chuck Jones' infamous cartoon, One Froggy Evening. It's an uneven mix of hilarity and banality. Brooks fans may find it entertaining. Star Wars fans should watch it at least once, like it or not. Others will most likely shake their heads and wonder.
