This lightweight musical comedy is pleasant and amusing, thanks largely to then-unknown Doris Day in a starmaking role. (The part was initially tailored for Judy Garland, but when she couldn't do it, it was toned down and given to Day, billed third.) The plot consists of mishaps and embarrassing predicaments as an untrusting couple spy on each other. Doris Day is hired by the wife to fool the husband's detective, and although the movie isn't quite as riotous as its synopsis may sound, it does provide good solid lighthearted entertainment.
