Reviews and Comments

Out of Sight, a black comedy by Steven Soderbergh based on an Elmore Leonard novel, is a film with a truly wicked sense of humor. I like how Mick Martin and Marsha Porter's Video Movie Guide put it: "To give you some idea of this movie's tone, it features what is probably the funniest fatal-head-wound scene ever filmed." It's true: it's hilarious, demented, and a treasure for Elmore Leonard fans. In 1995, Get Shorty gave one of Leonard's books royal screen treatment, and Out of Sight does it again. George Clooney's performance is remarkably well-timed; he's progressed considerably since his personality-oriented performances of the past. He and Jennifer Lopez, the female lead, are great together.
