Reviews and Comments

"We're rubbing elbows with some very important elbows, you know tonight."

The daughter of a United States senator (Rosalind Russell) gets a commission to be an officer in the Women's Army Corps -- or so she thinks. Actually she's enlisted as a private and is slow to catch on. It's a purely contrived premise, of course, but it's a good one, with a lot of potential. Russell does well with the material. But it's not as funny as it should be and loses steam around the midpoint. Ultimately, the film is more likeable than funny.
