This romantic comedy has a novel twist on it -- it's all about the woman trying to snag the man, rather than the other way around, and it's not always clear that her actions are purely honorable. While the film isn't daring enough to carry this angle as far as it should, the cast is good and makes it work. Julia Roberts plays the lead, and it's one of her most successful roles since Pretty Woman. Cameron Diaz is also noteworthy as the "other woman" -- she holds her own by Roberts and breaks her stereotypical role free of its mold toward the end. Dermot Mulroney and Rupert Everett round out the cast. Good funny fun -- but not (genre fans be forewarned) conventional.
