This made-for-TV family drama ranks head and shoulders above its usually thoughtless peers. Ving Rhames plays a Texas rancher who adopts his own grandson after his daughter runs away, and raises him on his own. Years later, he decides his son should know his mother, who has since put herself back together and become a family court judge. The story works -- and ultimately becomes very moving -- because the story stays true to the characters. Ving Rhames is excellent.
