Money may not grow on trees, but what if it did? That's what Irene Dunne's last feature film, It Grows On Trees, explores. Dunne plays the housewife of a family that has to scrimp for cash. But when a pair of trees she bought for a bargain start producing five and ten dollar bills, her prayers have been answered. The film deals with every conceivable issue that might result from such a phenomenon. Is spending the money legal? What taxes should one pay? And what happens when the world finds out about it? The film is dated (not terribly detrimental, in this case), and the story has the occasional contrivance and logic flaw, but the premise is more than intriguing enough to carry one's interest.
