Kate Winslet stars in this drama of a woman and her two children trying to survive relative poverty in Morocco. The movie is interesting if for no other reason than the exotic sets and locales and culture on display. Alas, it falls apart as storytelling; the movie seems to drag behind the cold mechanics of the plot. It's clear the characters in this movie are brimming with passion, love, and pain -- why can't we connect with that? By the end, we are left strangely, disappointingly unmoved.
