"Cheer up. All the best people have bad chests and bone diseases. It's all frightfully romantic."

Heavenly Creatures is a showcase of outstanding filmmaking and characterization. It's also in exquisitely poor taste, one realizes, when the film hits its final third. By the end, my stomach churned. Nothing like preaching modern anti-discrimination (and anti-responsibility) values to make the perpetrators of a hideous crime out to be innocent products of an oppressive society. I find this kind of shameless manipulation bothersome, and the victimizing of criminals tasteless.

I appreciated Heavenly Creatures for its creative cinematics. That's the extent of what I found worthwhile.
