Fallen is a dark serial killer film -- that owes much to Seven -- with a twist. The twist is that the killer isn't human but rather a demon that passes from person to person by touch. A couple of creepy scenes play with the horror of this notion: one where it reveals its nature to Denzel Washington, the cop on the case, and another where it chases someone through a crowd.

Although these scenes have their impact, the rest of the film doesn't hold up. The characters aren't fleshed out much more than the plot requires them to be, and the rules of the demon's power are too artificial and plot-serving. Setting these flaws aside, this film is a reasonably competent reworking of the serial killer formula -- but with better movies out there, what's the point?
