This inner city school drama is a little murky due to an unnecessary number of subplots that don't seem to have any other purpose than to fill time. Nevertheless, Michelle Pfeiffer's charisma is hard to beat, and she's perfectly cast in this fish-out-of-water story. It's no Lean On Me, but it'll do in a jiffy.
