Filmed in 1991 and mysteriously shelved for three years, China Moon, like The Hot Spot and The Big Easy, fails in its ultimate goal of recreating the magic of Body Heat, but it works in the moment as a mystery thriller in which the characters seldom say what they mean or mean what they say.
