I saw Bounce the day after I saw Return To Me, released the same year, and it was interesting how similar they are. Bounce is a drama, while Return To Me is a comedy, but the basic idea is the same: someone has suffered the loss of a spouse and finds solace in someone new who has a secret that could shake things up if it got out. Return To Me is the more fun, more colorful, more refreshingly innocent film of the two, but Bounce is the one that's more convincing. The characters make sense. Although the plot unfolds in a formulaic fashion, there isn't the feeling that it is a forced course. While not a great movie, nor even particularly original, there is something genuine in it that pushes it over the top.
