Rarely does a movie so utterly misunderstand itself. Sandra Bullock's performance as a nerdy introvert is this film's only amusement. The script is a relentless series of miscalculations. Does it not know that this character is insane? In the third act, a key character has a very predictable change of heart and delivers an embarrassingly awful speech about how great she is. She is not! Had this movie understood the character, it could have been the basis of a wonderful black comedy. Instead, it tries to be some other kind of movie and winds up as creepy as the main character.
