But there were many candidates that never quite caught on. Arguably the forerunner was, "Bill Clinton is the RinkUnion," which was MegaHal's randomly generated reply to a question about how he was doing at the RinkUnion.
Another forerunner was, "I killed you with my microwave," a reference to one of the giveaways, a pencil sharpener shaped vaguely like a very small microwave. The joke was that it was a "Switch Microwave," because releasing a small catch would cause it to snap open -- a deadly weapon in the wrong hands.
More crudely, one possibility was, "Let me know when you're finished pooping," first spoken by Amy to her months-old son Matthew during a coincidentally quiet moment. I had scarcely finished objecting to a scatalogical tag line when "I have to go to the bathroom!" entered the race, that quote being a family joke at my brother's expense, though good-naturedly.
At the last minute, I thought "Fuego!" (the Spanish word for "fire") would be a good candidate. It was Tim the Enchanter's selection for favorite word, and there was much shouting of it later, when I fired up the grill for lunch on Sunday.
But when all was said and done, "Is that the tagline?" was surely the most oft-repeated phrase of the weekend.
