Academy Award (Oscar) - Best Foreign Language Film
|
No Academy Awards were awarded for best foreign language film during the first nineteen Academy Award ceremonies.
* Between 1947 and 1955 (except for 1953) the Academy presented a Special/Honorary Award to the best foreign language film released during the year in the United States. The category was not competitive since there were no official lists of nominees.
From 1956 onward, a competitive Academy Award of Merit, known as the Best Foreign Language Film Award, has been awarded for non-English speaking films.
