"Hercules Unchained" is the second of two Hercules movies starring Steve Reeves. Despite the fact that Reeves' Hercules movies were among the best, they're still bad enough for inclusion on this page. On a scale of goodness, "Hercules Unchained" is about as good as its predecessor, named simply "Hercules," but on a turkey scale, it's a little higher -- maybe 2.5 instead of 2.
Among the stupidities: (1) the camera focuses on the oars of a ship as the men row -- but the oars only barely dip into the ocean on each stroke, and it's a miracle they get anywhere; (2) the villain's laughter is embarrassingly overdone; (3) a fight with a tiger has Steve Reeves wrestling with a tiger skin; (4) a guy in a sword fight gets mortally wounded in the shoulder of his sword arm, but continues to fight with it as furiously and functionally as before -- after dealing a death blow, he dies from the injury; (5) silly sound effects editing: a lightly trotting horse makes REALLY loud sounds when his hooves hit the ground, and when Hercules recollects past dialogue, the words sound like they were spoken over the phone.
