This 90-minute promenade of pain is chiefly notable for the protean talents of one Sybil Danning -- both of them. A cautionary film about the moral implications of rocketing earth trash out into the Great Beyond, "Panther Squad" begins with a hijacking of a space flight by the evil masterminds of the "Clean Space" organization. Exhausting all possibilities, the frantic government resorts to quasi-CIA operative Sexy Sybil and her bevy of scantily-clad damsels of danger known as the "Panther Squad." They are dubiously aided and abetted by an alkie CIA agent who carries in his overnight bag the Secret Weapon To Be Used Only in Case of Extreme Emergency -- which proves to resemble the Colgate MFP Fluoride Ray of Death (it disintegrates evildoers in a glossy flash of blue).
Points of interest: the scenery-chewing Geraldo Rivera doppelganger military junta commander; Sybill's deathless victory cry, "Surrender, or I'll blow your Nikes Off!"; and the off-road capabilities of the AMC Gremlin.
