What were they thinking? That's what will cross your mind after even just a few minutes of this.

Here's the rundown: a good caring enviormentalist (GCE for short) discovers a 100 mile hole in the earth's ozone layer heading towards LA. Apparently, this hole is so deadly that exposure to the sun under the hole causes instant death by sun-radiation. We see some off shore oil workers die in dramatic slow motion "Nooooo!!!!" fashion.

The GCE and his buddies try to get the word out to LA's population but are ignored. A token Evil Greedy Businessman (EGB) snubs their plea for help, but after insects start pouring into homes (??) from the atmospheric conditions he changes his mind and helps them. The GCE develops a bomb that will refill the ozone layer if set off by the hole in time. This bomb, called the "Ozone Repletion Bomb" or ORB is loaded onto an F-5 jet fighter so it can be shot into the hole.

Meanwhile, the news that the hole in the ozone layer is coming causes lots of stock footage of traffic jams and rioting to appear. LA is in a panic. But everything works out fine after GCE and his buddy (who naturally just knows how to fly the F5 jet) fly up to 65000 feet (again, using stock footage of a jet) and shoot the ORB into the computer-generated "hole" in the sky, and the ozone fixes itself within about 57 seconds. Everyone on the ground celebrates. I didn't.
