What a waste of money. Here I was expecting some classic lines like, "He who wears the mask becomes a demon...an instrument of evil!" and the same ridiculous plot elements like the falling helicopter and working motorcycle from the original "Demons." I was so disappointed with this movie. The only thing about it that makes it better than the original is that the gore is toned down just a little. It's easier to watch, but then when you factor in the plot, dialogue, and acting, it brings us back to unwatchable.
"Demons 2" takes place inside a large building where Sally, the world's snottiest teen, is having a birthday party. Demons come out of the TV, all the doors get locked, and the male and female leads are the only people who survive. Ok, demons coming out of the TV? Apparently the events in the original "Demons" actually took place, and demons started to overrun the city. How did they stop them? Drum roll please: they built a wall around the city. Yep. A big stone wall with barb wire around the edges. The TV show that was on was about four people who climb the wall to take pictures and artifacts from the demon-infested city. All right, what's wrong with this picture? (A) These people can climb over the wall and get into the city, but the demons can't do the same thing and get out. (B) Building a wall around a demon-infested city is the most absurd and unbelievable thing ever. (C) Climbing over a wall around a demon-infested city is the stupidest idea ever. (D) All of the above. If you picked (D), you're smart enough to stay away from this movie.
Anyway, in the show, a demon pops up, kills one of the people, then chases the others. Meanwhile, Sally goes to watch the TV, watches all this happen on the show, then sits and watches as the demon jumps out of her TV and turns her into a demon.
The only bad movie laugh I got out of this movie was from a scene in the weight room of the building. The main fitness trainer was played by an actor who was also a major character in the first "Demons." I suppose whoever made this movie assumed that nobody would be stupid enough to watch both these movies by choice. Well, there is one other part that was just so bad I had to laugh. The parents of a child in the building are out having dinner, and they talk about how worried they are about their son. Like half the voices in this movie, they're voices are dubbed, but in this scene they barely open their mouths at all! I didn't even realize it was those two people talking at all until a later scene when they are dubbed better.
There isn't really any reason to watch this movie at all. It's a bad movie, but very little of it is actually laugh-out-loud bad. Mostly it's just why-the-hell-did-I-waste-a-buck-eighty-for-this bad.
Rating: 1.5 turkeys.
Scene to watch for: Um...none. Don't watch.
Best line: None. This was pretty bad.
Things that make you go "Huh?": Everything that has to do with the "Demons" TV show. And how were they able to raise a budget for this movie at all after the first "Demons"?
