When I went to see this movie, I thought it would be pretty lame. I was right. It's a video game movie which should have given me a clue (sadly enough, I think this qualifies as one of the better movies made from games), but I watched it anyway. I had a pretty good time mocking it with a friend, and while it's not horrendously bad, it's a short and pointless space action movie filled with tons of things that make you laugh unintentionally. The best scene is probably when the good guys have to "be quiet" so that an enemy ship can't hear them. Huh? They're in space, how could they hear them?

We get some other good stuff such as the boarding of the enemy ship; apparently all it takes to take over a Kilrathi vessel is six guys with guns. Speaking of that, the Kilrathi (the badguy aliens) are so horribly done they look like really lame muppets. Quite frankly the original Star Trek series had better alien design. A bunch of pointless dialogue breaks up the equally dull battle scenes, and you should have fun mocking the characters. Finally, the "surprise" twist at the end involves one character showing the main character that he was wearing this necklace that had a special meaning. Of course, it was CLEARLY around his neck the whole movie... I'd give it somewhere between 2 and 3 turkeys, it depends on how much mileage you think you can get mocking it.

I used to love to play the original "Wing Commander" game. All the sequels ended up stinking, though. I hope this movie doesn't have any sequels. I like cheeze.
